Olympic Stadium

The Olympic stadium, located in Stratford in the heart of London’s East End, was constructed for the 2012 Olympic Games. It has now been renovated for use by various parties such as, English Rugby for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, UK athletics for the 2015 Diamond League meeting in London and most notably for the new residents, Premier League football club West Ham United.

Central Essex Interiors, working with Balfour Beatty, were responsible for the supply and installation of the structural framing systems, external render, internal partitions, ceilings and some specialist external joinery for the renovation of the stadium.

The project was challenging, as the design of the stadium is bold and included some tricky inclined walls and other features. Central Essex worked in conjunction with Balfour Beatty in order to value engineer the dry lining element of the project and saved 10% of the original tender price.

The project value of this project to Central Essex is £3.5 million, with the main body of the works complete in September 2015. The remaining West Ham areas were completed in May 2016 ready for the start of the football league.
